In a few simple steps, we’re going to show you how to retrofit a 2 x 35L base mount bin into a 450mm cabinet, which is available off the shelf at a Bunnings near you.

It has dual bins which allows you to use one section for general waste and the other for recycling, which is great. Fitting an integrated bin, not only means that you are concealing the bin visually, but you are also concealing odour. They all come with a lid, so your cupboard won’t smell either.

This style of bin is also practical, as you can move food waste from your benchtop to the bin in one action while also freeing up precious floor space. Each compartment includes a bin liner holder and can easily be removed by lifting straight out of the basket, making it easy to use the bin in other locations.

So, let’s talk through the installation process!

When you purchase any of our products, they will come with detailed instructions, they are easy to follow and we highly recommend you refer to these in order to achieve the best possible fit.

Before you get started, there a few tools you are going to need; a cordless drill with a number 2 Philips head and a 2mm drill bit, a pencil, screwdriver and safety gear.

  • Firstly, you need to separate the runners from the basket assembly

  • Next, complete the basket assembly by attaching the handle and brackets

  • Using the template, mark the holes in the base of the cabinet, ensuring you are pushing the template against the side wall of the cabinet, away from the hinges

  • After the holes are marked, drill them with a 2mm bit

  • Attach the runner brackets with the screws provided

  • Next, insert the basket assembly onto the runners

  • And the last step is placing the bins in the basket

  • You’re done!

So, there you have it, in a couple of hours you can purchase a new bin and install it!
